LASER DENTISTRY

LANAP® Protocol

LANAP® is a method of treating gum disease that uses lasers from a machine called the PerioLase® MVP-7. The lasers operate at a specific wavelength to destroy bacteria in your mouth while leaving healthy tissue unharmed. There are no cuts or sutures needed with this method, so it’s much less intrusive. Additionally, patients have reported much less pain and discomfort during the LANAP procedure than with traditional periodontal surgery, as well as less post-surgical recession and sensitivity.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • Quicker Healing & Recovery Period
  • Less Patient Discomfort During & Following Procedure
  • Minimal To No Gum Recession
  • Less Gum Inflammation & Bleeding
  • Helps Preserve Natural Teeth
  • Safe For Patients With Underlying Health Conditions

PERIODONTAL DISEASE

Did you know that gum disease affects 85 percent of adults? Since the symptoms usually show themselves very gradually, gum disease is often called a “silent” disease. Several risk factors are involved, including the following:

  • Inadequate Oral Hygiene
  • Tobacco Use
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Genetics

Symptoms can include chronic bad breath, swollen and bleeding gums, pain while chewing, loose teeth, and receding gums. But please note that some people may exhibit no signs at all! That’s why it’s extremely important to have regular dental cleanings.

Gum disease doesn’t only affect your mouth, either. It’s been linked to a higher incidence of oral cancer, heart disease, and stroke.

SAVE YOUR DENTAL IMPLANT

Sometimes, an infection can develop around a dental implant. This is known as peri-implantitis. Symptoms include red, swollen, and/or receding gums. If left untreated, peri-implantitis can eventually ruin the bone. Not only will the implant eventually fall out, but the infection could also spread to other areas of your mouth. There are several causes of peri-implantitis, including diabetes, osteoporosis, and a compromised immune system.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The LAPIP® procedure also uses the PerioLase® MVP-7 laser. Most patients will only need one appointment session to reap the benefits of LAPIP. There is less pain involved. The procedure will kill the bacteria causing the infection, but won’t harm any other parts of your mouth. It also minimizes any recession of the gum line. It’s a 100 percent natural procedure that’s perfectly safe for anyone with a compromised immune system or diabetes, or those patients currently taking blood thinners.
